Target:
All suppliers will go through a 5 point checklist by 2026
One of our key company values is being ethical. We conduct ourselves and our business in an ethical way, making decisions because they are the right ones to make. We expect the people we work with to share that sense of integrity, to care for their own people, and to care for the planet. We are committed to partnering only with ethical suppliers who demonstrate a commitment to fairness and sustainability, including a strong stance against modern slavery. To reinforce this, we are introducing a three-point checklist for our partners: they must have a policy prohibiting modern slavery, be encouraged to obtain Real Living Wage accreditation, and, preferably, hold B Corp certification. We also promise to be fair to our suppliers and pay them on time, every time.
Local where possible
We are passionate about sourcing and promoting local food suppliers whenever possible, working closely with them to ensure the highest quality ingredients for our menus.
For example, we are proud to work with the award-winning Owen Taylor butchers, whose high standards are demonstrated through visits from our chefs and front-of-house teams to their facilities. We also partner with Hambletons Bakery, a local gem in Rutland, and AM Bailey for fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables. For us, food is not just about serving a meal – it’s about presenting an experience. We take pride in being passionate and creative with our delivery, going above and beyond to provide an outstanding dining experience. Our menus feature seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, carefully chosen to highlight the best and freshest produce available, and we work hand-in-hand with our local producers to bring this vision to life.
Following our values
When it comes to procurement, we are committed to upholding our core values of accountability, ethics, and care. We take full responsibility for the choices we make and the suppliers we engage with, ensuring that each decision aligns with our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. We hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards, prioritizing transparency, fairness, and integrity in all our procurement processes. Where possible, we choose partners who share our values and who demonstrate care not only for their products but for their people, the communities they serve, and the environment. Our procurement approach is rooted in these principles, fostering long-lasting relationships with suppliers who are equally committed to making a positive impact.
Collaboration
We care deeply about where we started and often reflect on our origins. This sense of connection extends to our suppliers as well. We want to understand the stories behind the businesses we work with—how they started, whether they’re family-owned, or if they’ve built a reputation as specialists in their local communities.
We take the time to learn about the journeys that have brought them to where they are today.
A perfect example of this is how our F&B Manager sought out a sustainable supplier for our menu covers. For us, cost was not the deciding factor. What mattered most was ensuring that we didn’t use leather or any animal-based products for our Fifty the Street plant-based menu covers. We wanted to take something that would otherwise be considered waste and turn it into something both useful and aligned with our Fifty Percent Plant-Based philosophy. This led us to partner with Tudor Jones and Company, who produced innovative menu covers and coasters made from apple skin; an eco-friendly, sustainable material. It’s collaborations like this that embody our values of sustainability, creativity, and ethical responsibility, and we are proud to work with suppliers who share our commitment to making a positive impact.
